We've got lots of ways to enjoy Essex this Easter at the country parks and places
FREE Eggs-cellent Easter Trails at the Essex Country Parks
Can you help the Easter Bunny find and count the eggs that are hidden around the parks? Pick up or download a free Easter trail from Saturday 5 April until Monday 21 April 2025.
Running at: Belhus Woods, Cudmore Grove, Cressing Temple Barns, Danbury, Great Notley, Hadleigh, Thorndon and Weald Country Parks.
Supported by the Essex Year of Numbers.


Easter Forest School
Book special Easter Forest School sessions running at Thorndon Country Park (North) and Danbury Country Park.
Suitable for ages three to ten.
Thorndon: 8 and 15 April (and 27 May) 2025
Danbury: 9 and 16 April (and 28 May) 2025
Bring a picnic and make a day of it.
Sessions need to be booked in advance. Running 10am to 12pm or 12.30pm to 2.30pm, pick the one that works best for you. Find them in our what's on listings.
You might also like to enjoy the original, official The Gruffalo sculpture trail in the enchanting Deep, Dark Woods at Thorndon Country Park.

Essex Library Service Mobile Book Bus Storytimes
The mobile book bus will head to the Essex Country Parks on Thursday 10 April.
Enjoy story times and browsing the books at Thorndon between 10am to 12pm and Weald between 1 to 3pm.
The bus will be situated close to the visitor centres and cafes at both parks. Simply turn up!
Reach for the stars with Sky Ropes
Sky Ropes and Sky Ropes Junior is re-opening this Easter school holidays at Great Notley Country Park.
Sky Ropes Adventure is suitable for adults and children starting from 1m tall and Sky Ropes Junior for children from 2 years old with a maximum height of 1.22m.


Active Holiday Days at Essex Outdoors
Book your children on to the exhilarating School Holiday Activity Days running at four Essex Outdoors centres across the county.
For just £40 a day (or book four and get the fifth free!) your children will rotate around four activities in small groups.
Sessions can include archery, bushcraft, climbing, zip wire and even water or paddle sports depending on the centre and day you book. (Check on the booking page).
Excellent instructors mean your children are in safe hands.
Enjoy a tasty lunch with Tiptree Tea Rooms at Cressing Temple Barns
The Barns Tiptree tea room at Cressing Temple Barns accepts bookings every day of the week. With plenty of inside and outside seating available, its the perfect place to go to enjoy Easter with friends and family. Please call the tea room on 01376 585081 to book a table.

Spring Shopping with Charlie Owen's Essex Fair
Set in the glorious surroundings of the medieval barns at Cressing Temple, browse arts and crafts, fashion and beauty, house and garden, gifts and of course food and drink stalls.
The Essex Spring Shopping Fair takes place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 April. Pre-book tickets to save.
Hunt for shells at Cudmore Grove
After you've finished our Easter Animal Mysteries Trail, head down to the sand at Cudmore Grove and comb the beach for shells, creatures and sea glass. After a stormy winter, April is a great time to find all kinds of sea treasures.
